If you want to go over Arthurs Pass and your plans don't allow it, stay a while and have a day trip over.   We go regularly to Greymouth and Hokitika on a day trip.  You haven't seen Arthurs Pass until you go past Arthurs Pass township and head down to Otira..

Check out Castle Hill Rocks while you go over.  About an hour from Oxford, its an easy walk into Limestone country, pathway formed and toilets at the beginning. About 12 kilometres from the summit of Porters Pass the rocks stand haphazardly on the hillside.  Also known as Kura Tawhiti Conservation Area.

Going over to the West Coast see Londonderry Rock just before Kumara and the old historic swimming pool. 

Jet Boat up the Waimakariri River  - we may be able to arrange that from Springfield.

Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruises with Black Cat Cruises - swim with the dolphins or take the Nature Wildlife - you could see the Orca or Humpback Whale, Giant Petrels, Gannet, Penguins, fur seals, dolphins and other wifelife.

Hanmer Springs - only 1 3/4 hr drive from Oxford.  Soak up the pools, the village atmosphere and visit a winery at Waipara on the way home.
